PESHAWAR: The District Education Officer (Male), Peshawar, has suspended five teachers of Government Primary School No. 5, Hayatabad after students were found engaged in cleaning work during a surprise inspection.

According to official documents, the DEO (Male) Peshawar paid a surprise visit to the school on September 1, 2026, and during the inspection found children performing labor tasks.

Taking notice of the violation, immediate departmental action was taken against the concerned teaching staff. Those Teachers Suspended identified as Mukhtiar Khan (PST), Muhammad Zahoor Khan (SPST), Muhammad Zaheer Uddin (PST), Qaseemullah (PST)Hilal Javed (PST)The Education Department has appointed Ashfaq Ali Shah, Headmaster (SST-G) of GPMS Hayatabad Phase 3 JICA Peshawar, as the Inquiry Officer to conduct a detailed investigation into the matter.

He has been directed to examine all aspects of the incident and submit his report to the relevant authorities within seven days. The suspension notification also instructs that the necessary entry regarding the suspension be made in the service books of the concerned teachers.

Copies of the action have been sent to the SDEO (Male) Town-III Peshawar, the concerned ASDEO, and other relevant officials. According to the Education Department, students are not allowed to be used for cleaning or any kind of labor work in schools. He said that providing children with a safe, dignified, and educational environment is among the department’s top priorities.
