ISLAMABAD: A sudden fire broke out at H-9 Sunday Bazaar in Islamabad, engulfing more than 70 stalls and causing significant damage across multiple sections of the market.
According to rescue officials, the blaze affected four sections of the bazaar, including footwear and clothing stalls. Several shops were completely or partially destroyed as firefighters battled the flames.
Rescue authorities said the fire has been successfully brought under control in three sections of the market, while efforts are still underway to extinguish the blaze in the remaining two affected areas. Additional water tankers have been deployed to support the ongoing firefighting operation.
Emergency response teams were dispatched immediately, with extra rescue vehicles called in from Rawalpindi to assist in controlling the fire. Relief and rescue activities continue at the site under the supervision of Islamabad’s Assistant Commissioner.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. No casualties have been reported so far.
