PESHAWAR (Salman Yousafzai): A female lecturer at Islamia College Peshawar has reportedly faced harassment and misconduct from students, prompting her to submit a written complaint to the Vice Chancellor.
According to the complaint, several students refused to take the exam during the second-semester test in the Botany department. The letter alleges that these disgruntled students incited others not to take the test and issued threats.
The complaint describes a troubling incident where students tore up question papers and threw them at the female lecturer. Additionally, some students allegedly locked the lecturer and female students inside the classroom.
The situation escalated when the students returned with more male peers, continuing to threaten the lecturer.
She claims that they surrounded her and confined her within the classroom. The female lecturer has requested immediate and strict disciplinary action from the Vice Chancellor against those involved in the incident.
In response, Professor Dr. Seljuk Rehman stated that the incident has been addressed promptly. He announced the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate the matter, which will submit its report soon.
The Vice Chancellor assured that strict action would be taken based on the findings and shortcomings revealed in the report. He stated that the safety and dignity of teachers at Islamia College Peshawar will not be compromised, and that transparency and accountability will be prioritised within the institution.
