RAWALPINDI: Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has said the national team has made several changes to its white-ball cricket approach as preparations continue for the upcoming World Cup.

Speaking at a press conference at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the left-handed batter said the team management was working on building the right combination while keeping the global tournament in mind.

Fakhar noted that Pakistan’s players had recently participated in first-class cricket, which he believes can help them prepare for the challenges of limited-overs cricket.

He said playing red-ball cricket makes ODI cricket feel easier, adding that first-class cricket helps players develop both mental and physical strength.

The batter also highlighted the difference between domestic and international cricket, explaining that the demands and challenges of the two formats can vary significantly.

Fakhar revealed that he had recently spent considerable time fielding during first-class cricket, including a stint of around 150 overs, which he said was beneficial for players’ fitness and endurance.

Pakistan Focused on Winning the World Cup

Discussing Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming major tournament, Fakhar acknowledged that the team was aware of its inability to win a major international title for several years.

He said Pakistan had reached the finals and semi-finals of major competitions but was now determined to focus on the World Cup.

According to Fakhar, the team has discussed several strategies as part of its preparations, although he refrained from disclosing all the plans.

He added that preparations were ongoing and the upcoming tri-series would provide an important opportunity to assess players and establish a balanced team combination ahead of the World Cup.

Fakhar Says Consistent Performance Is Every Player’s Goal

Fakhar also spoke about the expectations placed on players, saying every cricketer wants to perform well and earn appreciation from fans.

However, he acknowledged that consistent performances are not always possible, as players cannot deliver their best every day.

The Pakistan batter expressed confidence that the team’s ongoing preparations, combined with experience gained through domestic and international cricket, would help strengthen its combination ahead of the upcoming challenges.

The tri-series is expected to serve as an important opportunity for Pakistan to fine-tune its plans and build momentum before the World Cup.
