PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Friday busted a fake, unhygienic branded cold drink factory in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Nowshera.

A statement was issued in this regard by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA), stating that under the supervision of Director General Wasif Saeed, a major operation was carried out in Nowshera, during which a factory producing counterfeit branded cold drinks was sealed.
According to the spokesperson of the Authority, the operation was conducted in collaboration with the district administration in Tehsil Pabbi, Banda Nabi, Nowshera. During the raid, a large quantity of syrup used in fake beverages was confiscated and destroyed on the spot.
The team also recovered four filling machines, two mixing tanks, three water and beverage tanks, eight bags of empty bottles, and nine cans of flavours and chemicals, which were taken into government custody.
Further details revealed that the factory was sealed, while a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against the owners, and legal proceedings have been initiated.

Director General Wasif Saeed commended the Food Safety teams for the successful operation and said that no leniency will be shown to those involved in the production of counterfeit and substandard beverages. He added that such heinous businesses endanger public health and will be completely eradicated from the province.
