England Test captain Ben Stokes was injured on his face after being hit by a ball while coaching at the Durham Academy.

Ben Stokes, 34, is currently in England and was working with his county club’s young players after the Ashes series defeat. Stokes was standing near the nets when a ball played by a batter hit him in the face. The all-rounder shared a picture on his Instagram story on Thursday afternoon, showing blood on his cheek, severe swelling around his eye, and a bruise. The nature and severity of Stokes’ injury are currently unclear; he has not played a match since the conclusion of the Ashes series in Sydney on January 8. He suffered an adductor injury in the final days of the series.

It should be noted that England suffered a 4-1 defeat in the Ashes series, after which the team’s performance, preparation, and culture were severely criticized. It was announced last week that Ben Stokes will be part of the England Lions coaching staff during the series against Pakistan Shaheens in the United Arab Emirates next month.
