NOWSHERA: The Deputy Commissioner of Nowshera has announced a series of strict safety measures ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure law and order in the district. The directives, which come into immediate effect and will remain enforced for 15 days, aim to prevent accidents and maintain public safety during the festive period.

Under the new restrictions, the following activities are completely banned: the sale and purchase of fireworks, toy weapons, and display or firing of firearms in public areas. Modifications to motorcycles, including the removal of silencers for stunts such as wheelies, and riding motorcycles without silencers, are also prohibited.

In addition, the production, sale, and use of high-pressure horns are banned, as are swimming and boating in rivers, streams, small dams, and other water reservoirs. Chair lifts in rivers are also prohibited during this period.

The Deputy Commissioner’s office has warned that anyone violating these orders will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Authorities have urged residents to fully cooperate with the rules to ensure a safe and peaceful Eid celebration.

One life lost, five injured in Landikotal roof collapse horror

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall caused the roof of a room to collapse in Landikotal, trapping six people under the debris.

Rescue teams from Rescue 1122 were immediately dispatched after receiving the report. Local residents assisted the teams in pulling out the victims, who were then transferred to a nearby hospital.

Authorities confirmed that one woman lost her life in the incident, while the remaining five sustained injuries and are receiving treatment.

The rescue operations were conducted promptly to prevent further casualties.
