ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed the safe release of former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed from Israeli custody.
In a statement on the social networking website X, Ishaq Dar said that Mushtaq Ahmed was illegally detained by the Israeli occupation forces along with other workers while they were carrying humanitarian aid to the besieged Gazans through the Global Samood flotilla.
He thanked God for the release of the former senator and expressed special gratitude to the Greek and Turkish authorities for their cooperation in this process, which facilitated Mushtaq Ahmed’s transfer to Istanbul and return from there.
The Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the proactive role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Pakistani Embassy in Athens in completing this difficult mission.
He strongly condemned the illegal arrest of aid workers and the Israeli move to stop humanitarian aid for the citizens of Gaza, and made it clear that Pakistan will continue to provide moral and diplomatic support to its Palestinian brothers and sisters.
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan’s position is unambiguous in favour of the Palestinians, and it stands with them in every difficult moment.
