District Magistrate Swat Saleem Jan has imposed a complete ban on bathing, swimming, and illegal boating in the Swat River, canals, ravines, and drains for two months under Section 144.

The order issued states that during the summer season in Swat, a large number of people and tourists go to bathe and swim in rivers, canals, ravines, and drains. Due to the high water level due to melting snow and rain, drowning and other accidents are increasing.

To protect public life and property, a complete ban has been imposed on swimming, bathing, and boating in the Swat River, canals, ravines, and drains. In case of violation, action will be taken under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The ban will remain in effect for 60 days.

In view of the onset of summer and the rise in water levels due to melting snow, the district administration of Swat has taken a major step to protect public life and property.

Deputy Commissioner Swat Saleem Jan has imposed a complete ban on bathing, swimming, and illegal boating in the Swat River, canals, rivers, and drainage gutters under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

According to the notification issued by the district administration, a large number of tourists and locals come to the Swat River and other waterways for recreation in summer.

However, in recent days, due to melting snow and rain, the flow of water in the rivers has increased. This is increasing the number of drownings and other accidents.

The notification states that in order to protect the lives of citizens, there will be a complete ban on bathing, swimming, and boating without permission in the Swat River, all canals, rivers, and drainage gutters for 60 days.

The ban is effective immediately. The administration has made it clear that legal action will be taken against those who violate the order under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Under Section 188, disobedience of a government order can be punished with imprisonment for up to six months or a fine, or both. The Deputy Commissioner of Swat has appealed to tourists and locals to follow the orders of the administration and avoid going to dangerous places. He has directed Rescue 1122 and the police to ensure strict implementation of the ban.

It should be noted that every year in the summer, incidents of drowning are reported in the rivers and canals of Swat. According to the administration, this step has been taken to prevent these tragic accidents.
