PESHAWAR: A four-day digital media boot camp has brought together 35 young people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s merged districts to help them develop practical skills to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving digital world.
The Digital Media Boot Camp 2026 began at Rashid Shaheed Memorial Hall, University of Peshawar. It has been organised by the Directorate of Youth Affairs, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with The Natives.
The programme focuses on practical areas including digital media, communication, content creation, storytelling and the effective use of online platforms. Organisers say the aim is to help young participants develop skills that can support their education, careers and future business opportunities.
The opening ceremony was attended by Assistant Director Youth Affairs KP Atifa Yousafzai and Shabeer Khan. They highlighted the growing importance of digital skills and encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training.
The first day focused on both learning and practical activities. Dr. Bakht Zaman, Professor of Journalism department University of Peshawar, spoke about the purpose of the boot camp and encouraged participants to become responsible digital creators. He urged them to use digital media not only for communication and creativity but also for entrepreneurship, social awareness and positive storytelling.
A session on vlogging was conducted by journalist Muhammad Faheem, Head of Media Studies at Iqra National University. He discussed how to tell engaging stories, create original and authentic content and build an audience through digital platforms.
Sibgha also led practical discussions and activities, giving participants an opportunity to work together and apply what they were learning. The day included brainstorming, group work and hands-on exercises, with participants actively taking part in the sessions. Several participants described the training as practical and useful, particularly for young people hoping to pursue careers in digital media.
Organisers said the boot camp is intended to give young people from the merged districts skills they can use for content creation, communication, entrepreneurship and employment in an increasingly digital world. The Natives also thanked Director Youth Affairs Abbas Khan Afridi for supporting the initiative and promoting opportunities to help young people develop modern professional skills.
