COPENHAGEN: Denmark has launched a new procedure under which foreign workers will be able to participate in international business events without having to obtain work permits for a maximum period of 10 days.
The new policy is intended to open up access for key personnel to global conferences, trade fairs, and major business gatherings by reducing the administrative burdens on them.
According to the revised regulations, foreign workers who are employed by companies located outside of Denmark and who are directly involved in international business events will be able to enter Denmark for up to ten days without needing a work permit. This privilege includes not only personnel such as event managers and planners, technicians, and communications specialists but also other ancillary functions.
The exemption applies only to indoor business events of a minimum of 400 registered participants, who are not allowed to have the general public in. The activities that are covered are those such as the making of arrangements for the event, the event itself, and then the subsequent administration of the event.
On the other hand, this new regulation does not cover the above-mentioned places, as well as public fairs and concerts, and outdoor or open events, freelancers, locally hired staff, or those performing non-essential roles. The people who fall under these categories will be required to apply for a work visa as per the regular work visa guidelines of Denmark.
