NEW DELHI: India’s‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Chief of Army Staff, General Apinder Dwivedi, who was embarrassed by a defeat at the hands of Pakistan in Operation Sindoor earlier this year, has gone to extremes with his statements once again.

During the Chanakya Defence Dialogue held in New Delhi, General Dwivedi amusingly referred to India’s unsuccessful operation as “just the trailer.” He announced, “Operation Sindoor 1.0 was merely a trailer; it took 88 hours, and now the real movie will start.” Everyone will see what happens next.”

If the incident of Operation Sindoor was a trailer, they were only 88 hours long and the real film was going to start. We are totally ready, and if any such thing happens, we shall certainly give a fitting reply and prove our accountability,” he said when asked about the outcome of Operation Sindoor.

It is a response to India’s military aggression in May 2025 that Pakistan had dealt with decisively. In the response, Pakistan’s Air Force and Ground Forces hit India hard. Their impact is still being felt globally.

After the conflict, Donald Trump, the U.S. President, alleged on several occasions that Pakistan shot down more than five Indian jets, and once, he even said that seven Indian aircraft were destroyed, while Pakistan did not lose a single plane.

During the counterattack, Pakistan aimed at India’s Rafale fighter jets and severely damaged India’s military infrastructure by blowing up the command center, artillery positions, and border posts, among ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌others.

Trump to Modi: War with Pakistan should never happen

In a recent exchange of views with reporters at the Oval Office, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he had warned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi against waging war with Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion of Diwali, Trump accounted for his recent telephonic talk with Modi, wherein they exchanged views on various issues, including commerce. According to the U.S. President, he informed Modi that it won’t be in the interest of India to wage a war with Pakistan and requested peaceful solutions to problems.

Trump also claimed that, through his diplomacy, he had managed to prevent eight wars, including a potential war between India and Pakistan. He recalled how he intervened when relations between the two nuclear nations were on the rise, preventing it from worsening further.

He explained that seven aircraft had been shot down during the crisis, but the war was averted by his intervention. Trump explained that he had also phoned the two countries and warned them that should they engage in war, America would stop trading with the two nations. Within 24 hours, the two countries then phoned him back, promising not to go to war.

This is not the first such time that President Trump has boasted of having averted war between Pakistan and India. He has often claimed to have defused tensions there successfully, taking credit for himself as a key figure in maintaining peace between the two regional countries.

Trump’s remark serves to bring out his own diplomatic approach, which he takes credit for having been a major factor in averting conflicts across the globe.
