PESHAWAR: As many as 28 people died and 29 others injured as heavy rains and flash floods hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PDMA said on Friday.

In a statement issued here, the PDMA said that the total number of deaths includes 10 men, 15 children and 3 women, while the injured include 13 men, 9 women and 7 children, as flash rains and floods damaged roofs and walls to collapse and swept away by floodwaters. It said that all these causulties have been reported in the province since July 19.

Sharing further details, the PDMA said that a total of 47 houses were damaged, of which 37 were partially destroyed and 10 houses were destroyed completely. These accidents occurred in different districts of the province including Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Chitral Upper and Lower, Dir Lower and Upper, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Kohistan Upper, Tank, Torghar, Kurram, North and South Waziristan.

The PDMA said that Rescue 1122, district administration and related departments are in touch with each other and relief activities underway. The Authority directed the administration of the affected districts to provide relief materials to the victims as soon as possible.
