PESHAWAR (Kamran Ali Shah): An accountability court on Friday sent an accused to judicial remand in a multi-billion-rupee fraud case involving a private land marketing company.

The hearing was conducted by Accountability Judge Hamid Mughal, where the NAB prosecutor and the petitioner appeared before the court.

The court completed the six-day physical remand of the accused, Abdul Waheed Butt, and ordered that he be shifted to Central Jail on judicial remand.

According to the NAB prosecutor, the accused allegedly collected money from 1,616 people in the name of a private land marketing company and, along with other co-accused, embezzled Rs3.73 billion from the public.

The prosecutor further stated that the accused was involved in agreements and transaction documents related to the company.

However, counsel for the accused argued that his client was not an employee of the company and had no connection with it. The defence maintained that the investigation was still incomplete and requested further inquiry.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court ordered that Abdul Waheed Butt be sent to Central Jail on judicial remand.
