MALAKAND: At least four people died and seven other seriously injured on Sunday as a result of collision between a passenger flying coach and a dumper truck near Tunnel No. 3 on the Swat Motorway.
According to a spokesperson for Rescue 1122 Malakand, medical teams and ambulances immediately rushed to the scene upon receiving the alert and launched emergency relief operations. In a joint response, Rescue 1122 personnel and the Motorway Police provided on-site first aid to the victims. The injured were subsequently shifted to the District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital in Batkhela for further medical treatment.
According to police, at least four passengers died in the accident and they were identified as Aziz Ahmad, son of Mubarak Shah (50 years), resident of Odigram, Bajaur, Faiz Muhammad, son of Jumma Khan (70 years), resident of Kohistan, Musammat Hameeda, wife of Ajab Khan (60 years), resident of Mardan and Musammat Aisha Noor, wife of Sher Bahadur (55 years) resident of Alam Ganj. Their dead bodies were also shifted to the hospital.
The injured were identified as Sher Bahadur, son of Yaqoob Khan (60 years) Alam Ganj, Umair, son of Munawar Shah (21 years) Mardan, Hazrat Ali, son of Munawar Shah (26 years), Mardan, Muhammad, son of Akbar Ali (3–4 years) Katlang, Ajab Khan, son of Syed Ahmad (45 years) Mardan, Sadlain, son of Ajab Khan (8 years), Mardan and Noorullah, son of Muhammad (50 years, Coach Driver) Takht Bhai.
Rescue authorities confirmed that a total of 11 casualties were reported from the crash site. Police launched investigation into the accident.
