Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said that the elected government of Imran Khan was toppled with a regime change and through well-hatched conspiracies peace of the province was sabotaged.
Addressing local elders during his brief visit to Bara, the Chief Minister said that he repeatedly asked the federal government to take the provincial government into confidence regarding military operations, but they always acted against the will of the people.
He said that the Grand Peace Jirga was held to establish permanent peace, which presented a 15-point unanimous declaration, and all political and religious parties and every school of thought had opposed the operation in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but attempts were being made to sabotage this peace agenda as well.
A false impression of permission for an operation is being given through organized propaganda against me, the Chief Minister said. He added that during heavy snowfall in the Tirah valley, military operations are beyond comprehension. Chief Minister said that preparations are being made for an operation to create an anti-government atmosphere under the guise of a self-made terrorism narrative. If the intention was really for peace, the provincial government would have been taken into confidence.
“Decisions made in closed rooms always cause harm. We stand with Imran Khan on the issue of military operations, as tribal areas are not laboratories, there are living humans too,” the Chief Minister remarked.
Those who deprived us for 78 years still want us to remain deprived. We will not let their ambitions succeed, Sohail Afridi said. At the time of the merger of the erstwhile FATA, a promise of Rs 1,000 billion was not fulfilled in 10 years.
Chief Minister said that due to a lack of funds, Development projects were badly affected in the merged areas. The provincial government is working on a comprehensive package of Rs 1,000 billion for merged districts, the public will be given priority in health, education, and other social sectors.
