ORAKZAI (Manzoor Khan): A cloudburst and torrential rain have caused severe devastation in the Mishti Mela area of Orakzai district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
The sudden flash flood triggered by a cloudburst engulfed the entire Mishti Bazaar, leading to losses worth millions of rupees.
According to Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC) Sameer, the intensity of the flood was so great that it swept away dozens of shops, business markets, and several houses. Many vehicles and motorcycles parked in the market were also carried away by the strong currents.
The administration has reported that the commercial centre of Mishti Mela has been significantly impacted due to the flash flood. AAC Sameer made an emergency visit to the affected areas to assess the relief activities.
In a statement to the media, he mentioned that the administration is conducting a detailed assessment of the damage, but, fortunately, no loss of life has been reported so far. A state of emergency has been declared in the area, and citizens have been advised to stay away from rivers and canals.
