ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued new guidelines for citizens applying for Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and child registration certificates (B-Forms), urging timely updates and registrations to avoid possible future penalties.

Sources say that the National Database and Registration Authority has instructed citizens to get their expired CNICs renewed and register their children via the B-Form procedure by the end of June 2026. It is expected that more fees or penalties will be levied on pending and delayed registration processes after the federal budget for FY 2026-27.

Citizens are therefore asked by the authority to immediately visit relevant centres to prevent financial and legal problems in the future, while special attention is given to parents about getting their non-registered children registered through the B-Form process.

Children who have reached the age where they can have a Smart National Identity Card are encouraged by NADRA to update their B-Forms and convert them into CNICs as soon as possible.

Fee schedules for several services can be expected to change after the budget is finalized, leading to increased charges for late registrants.

NADRA introduces new feature to simplify services for applicants

Earlier, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched its new and modern website, which aims to provide citizens with fast, easy and digital access to identity services.

According to a NADRA spokesperson, the new platform is a fully integrated digital system through which citizens will be able to obtain services for various identity documents and certificates, including CNIC, NICOP, POC, FRC, and CRC.

The NADRA spokesperson said that the organisation is gradually moving away from the paper and manual system to a biometric and modern digital identity framework, which is considered one of the most advanced identity systems globally.

The new website also includes online verification, maps and other modern features, through which citizens will be able to verify their identity documents without visiting the office.

Complete information regarding the application procedure, document requirements and processing timelines is also available on the website, while support and contact information are also provided to guide users.

This new portal also provides special convenience for Pakistanis living abroad, making access to NICOP and POC services easier and reducing the need for frequent visits to consulates.
