A senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), a renowned religious scholar and the head of Jamia Ashrafiya, Maulana Sultan was seriously injured in a bomb blast near Wana Bazar in South Waziristan last night. He later succumbed to his injuries.

According to sources, Maulana Sultan was on his way home from the madrasa last night when he was targeted near Wana Bazar. The blast was so severe that Maulana Sultan was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but he did not survive.

After the incident, there was intense fear and panic in the area while security forces cordoned off the scene and started collecting evidence. According to initial reports, the blast was targeted, but investigations are ongoing.

The funeral prayers of martyr Maulana Sultan will be offered today in his native village, after which the burial will be held. Leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), local elders, scholars and a large number of people are expected to attend the funeral prayers.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed deep sorrow and grave concern over the incident and strongly condemned the blast. He said that targeting scholars and religious figures is not only an act of hostility towards peace but also an attempt to push the entire region towards instability.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman demanded that the government and law enforcement agencies immediately arrest the elements involved in the incident and bring them to justice.

The people and residents of the area have also expressed deep grief and anger over the incident and expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation. Locals say that important figures of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) have been targeted in Wana before too, but despite this, effective security measures have not been taken.

It should be noted that South Waziristan, especially Wana, has seen an increase in targeted killings and terrorist incidents in recent times, which has posed serious threats to the peace of the region.
