ISLAMABAD: The vehicles being used by the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) have consumed more than 810,000 litres of fuel in the past five years, according to documents presented before the Parliament.

The documents reveal that 75 vehicles are currently being used by BISP at its headquarters and regional offices. Of these, 28 are stationed at the BISP headquarters, while 12 are in Punjab, 17 in Sindh, seven in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six in Balochistan, and five in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to the official data, BISP vehicles consumed more than 810,000 litres of fuel during the five-year period, with the expenditure running into millions of rupees.

Vehicles operating in the Islamabad region alone consumed 402,400 litres of fuel during the period, while those in Punjab used 100,788 litres.

The documents further show that vehicles in Sindh consumed 182,850 litres of fuel over the five years.

The fuel consumption figures were presented to the parliament along with details of BISP’s official vehicle fleet and its use across different regions.
