ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Finance has issued a clarification regarding the revision of basic pay scales and allowances for federal government employees, announcing that certain ad hoc relief allowances will remain frozen at existing levels.
As per the notice issued by the ministry, the rate of two ad hoc relief allowances of the employees of federal government has been decided, while separate arrangements have been made for new as well as existing employees under the allowance scheme of 2023 and 2024 respectively.
As per the notice, the Ad Hoc Relief Allowance 2023 has already been frozen at the rate prevailing on June 30, 2023, while the new employees shall also get the allowance at the rate of Basic Pay Scale 2022.
Further, the notice states that the special pays and ad hoc allowance will remain frozen at the rate of June 30, 2026. The employees of Grades 1 to 16 will get the allowance at the rate of 35 percent of basic pay, while employees of Grades 17 to 22 will get the 30 percent ad hoc relief allowance.
Regarding the Ad Hoc Relief Allowance 2024, the ministry informed that employees in Grade 1 to 16 shall get 25% of their basic salary, whereas the officers in Grades 17 to 22 shall be entitled to an allowance of 20%. The same shall also remain frozen until further orders.
It is worth noting here that employees who were hired after July 1, 2026, would get the 2024 allowance according to the new basic pay scale under the policy.
The above clarification has been made to clear any misunderstanding about the allowance calculation and payment due to the recent revision in the pay structure of the federal government.
