LEEDS: England have suffered an injury setback ahead of the opening Test against Pakistan, with left-handed opener Emiligoe’s participation in the match now in doubt after sustaining a shoulder injury.
The first Test of the three-match series is scheduled to begin in Leeds on August 19.
The injury has been sustained by Emiligoe during the One Day Cup match played between Durham and Middlesex, where questions have been raised about the availability of Emiligoe for the first Test match of England against Pakistan.
England have made an announcement regarding the squad for the first two Test matches against Pakistan and the squad consists of sixteen players. The absence of Jacob Bethell because of an injury means that Jordan Cox will open the batting at No. 3.
Fast bowler Brydon Carse has made a comeback to the team, and Ollie Pope has been named as the reserve wicketkeeper.
England are expected to assess Emiligoe’s fitness ahead of the series opener, with his availability likely to influence the team’s final combination for the Leeds Test.
