MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Police have strongly refuted widespread media reports claiming that Shaukat Nawaz Mir, a leader of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has been taken into custody.
Official police sources clarified there is no truth to the rumours circulating across various social media platforms. The authorities explicitly dismissed a report broadcast by BBC Urdu, which claimed that the regional leader had been arrested in the Dhirkot Tehsil of AJK’s Bagh district.
According to senior law enforcement officials, Shaukat Nawaz Mir remains at large, and targeted operations to apprehend him are actively underway.
