ISLAMABAD: Banks across Pakistan will observe a three-day closure this week as the Independence Day public holiday coincides with the regular weekend break.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will remain closed on Friday, August 14, 2026, in observance of Independence Day, which has been declared a public holiday by the federal government.
The public holiday is followed by the normal weekend of Saturday and Sunday, thus the physical branches of banks will be closed for three continuous days.
Normal banking will resume on Monday, August 17.
For those customers who need to carry out in-person banking, it is recommended that they do so before Friday.
The closure primarily affects physical branches. Digital banking platforms, ATMs and other electronic services may continue to remain operational, depending on the arrangements of individual banks.
