DHAKA: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the Test team for the opening Test against Pakistan, which is scheduled to be held from May 8, 2026, in Dhaka. Two new names have been selected in the squad for the opening Test against Pakistan.
According to Crickinfo, openers Tanzid Hasan and wicketkeeper-batter Amit Hasan have been selected in the Test squad for the very first time. Tanzid Hasan has proved himself in ODI cricket, while Amit Hasan impressed the selectors with his performance in the domestic tournament of First Class cricket.
Head selector Habibul Bashar assured about the selection of new players saying that they were being considered by the selectors since quite some time owing to their impressive performances in all forms of the game. Bashar commended the batting technique of Tanzid Hasan, who he believes will make an impact in the longest version of the game as well. On the other hand, Habibul Bashar appreciated Amit Hasan for his consistency in the game.
This team also gets back the fast bowlers Sharaf Islam and Taskin Ahmed, with Taskin playing his first Test match in almost six months against the West Indies since December 2024. Another off-spinner who is added to the team is Naeem Hasan.
Some of the fast bowlers who are not included in this squad include Khaled Ahmed, Jakir Ali, Hassan Mahmud, and Hasan Murad.
Schedule for Test Series
The Bangladesh versus Pakistan Test series will start with the first match on May 8, 2026, at Dhaka, and the second match of this series will be held at Sylhet from May 16, 2026.

Naimul Hasan Shanto (Captain), Mahmood Hassan Joy, Shadman Islam, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Das, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Naeem Hasan, Ebadat Hossain, Sharaf Islam. Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Tanzid Hasan and Amit Hasan.
BCB stops Mustafizur Rahman and Naheed Rana from playing the remaining PSL matches
Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to prevent Mustafizur Rahman and Naheed Rana from participating in the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) this season.
According to a press release issued by the BCB, Mustafizur Rahman has been allowed to go into rehabilitation through the medical team of the organization, which caused the cancellation of the NOC previously provided to him for playing in the PSL.
Meanwhile, Naheed Rana is also off the duty list for the rest of the PSL matches, as he has been called upon to prepare for the Test matches between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
