Pakistan’s Test captain Babar Azam equalled former captain Imran Khan’s historic record after producing a stellar batting performance against West Indies in the Test series.
Babar finished as the highest run-scorer of the series with 193 runs in 4 innings at an average of 96.50. He scored 23 in the first innings of the first Test before hitting a half-century in the second innings. In the first innings of the second Test, his 88 helped Pakistan secure a crucial 43-run lead, while in the final innings he made 24 off 30 balls, including two sixes and two fours.
For his consistent batting, Babar was named joint Player of the Series with West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves. The award was the first of Babar’s Test career and his 10th overall in international cricket.
He had previously won 5 Player of the Series awards in T20Is and 4 in ODIs. With this, Babar joined Imran Khan and Wasim Akram as Pakistan’s joint-highest holders of Player of the Series awards with 10 each, while Waqar Younis sits fourth on the list with 9.
