ISLAMABAD: A ban has been imposed on the use of an O-Level textbook titled ‘The History and Culture of Pakistan’ in the federal capital city, instructing all private educational institutions to immediately remove the book from their curriculum.

As per sources, the ban comes at the orders of ICT Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority, which has directed schools to pull out the book forthwith from their libraries and classrooms.

This ban is applicable to all private educational institutions operating in the federal capital city, with sources confirming that no private school will be permitted to add any book in its syllabus without prior permission or NOC.

Officials informed that surprise inspections teams have been constituted in this regard and those institutions found flouting this directive can invite legal and monetary action against them.

Furthermore, officials confirmed that bookstores will also come under inspection and the sale of unauthorized books will not be permitted under any circumstances.

The reason behind the banning of this particular O-level book remains unclear at this moment.
