PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to reduce public expenditures to maintain fiscal discipline and ensure effective use of government resources. This decision has been formalized through an official notification issued by the Provincial Finance Department.

According to the notification, non-salary expenditures will be cut by 20% across the province for a period of three months, from April 1 to June 30. During this time, all government departments, semi-governmental institutions, and autonomous bodies are required to reduce their expenditures, excluding salaries, by 20%.

The Finance Department stated that this initiative aims to minimize unnecessary expenses and improve the utilization of government resources, ensuring balanced financial matters.

The notification further emphasized that this decision will be strictly enforced between April 1 and June 30. Principal Accounting Officers have been instructed to ensure the full and effective implementation of this decision.

This move by the provincial government is viewed as an effort to maintain financial discipline and control public spending. Officials believe that it will promote austerity within government institutions and enable better allocation of available resources based on priority.
