PESHAWAR: The president of the Awami National Party (ANP) and senator, Aimal Wali Khan, on Thursday expressed grave concern over the worsening law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He remarked that the province is currently experiencing a dangerous period of instability. The recent spate of terrorist incidents and the rising trend of targeted killings have instilled fear and panic among the population, raising significant questions about the provincial government’s effectiveness.

Senator Khan pointed out that the provincial government appears to be absent during this critical time, suggesting that law and order are not a priority for them. He cautioned that if timely and decisive actions are not taken, the situation could deteriorate even further.

He emphasised that combating terrorism is a shared responsibility between the provincial and federal governments. Unfortunately, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are suffering due to the ongoing political conflict between the province and the central government. Senator Khan urged both sides to set aside their differences, demonstrate seriousness, and implement practical measures to restore peace. He warned that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cannot afford to see more lives lost and that this violence must be halted at all costs. The Awami National Party is committed to supporting any positive and effective steps towards establishing lasting peace in the province by involving all stakeholders.
