PESHAWAR: A serious financial irregularity of Rs. 18.46 billion (18 arab 46 crore) has allegedly been unearthed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the current PTI government tenure of 2024-25.
According to Irfan Khan’s vlog, these irregularities have surfaced in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZDMC) – the company responsible for developing and managing all industrial economic zones in the province.
The company currently manages 15 functional economic zones across the province with plans for 7 more, and claims to have created around 107,000 jobs. It handles land allotments to industrialists, development funds, revenue collection, and lease agreements.
Irfan Khan in his vlog says the audit has found Irregularities in land allotment at throwaway rates, Misuse of development funds, Non-recovery of dues from industrialists, Violation of PPRA rules in awarding contracts
The vlog claims that this Rs. 18.46 billion is separate from the other scandals already in the news this week – like the Rs. 16.94 billion mining sector audit and Rs. 920 million education department tablet scandal that the Auditor General of Pakistan flagged for 2024-25.
This figure of Rs. 18.46 billion is being reported by journalist Irfan Khan based on audit documents he says he has. As of today, the KP Government and KP-EZDMC have not issued an official response. The Auditor General has recommended an inquiry to fix responsibility.
This is part of a larger series of audit reports coming out against the PTI’s 13-year continuous rule in KP.
