Former captain of the national cricket team Babar Azam has crossed another milestone by scoring more than 9,000 international runs in the current decade, and he has become the first batsman in the world to achieve this honour.

He achieved this milestone in the first innings of the second Test match against Bangladesh at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Babar Azam played a responsible innings of 68 runs off 84 balls, which included 10 fours.

Babar Azam has completed 9060 international runs since the beginning of the 2020s and has become the only batsman in the world to cross the 9,000-run mark in this decade. He achieved this feat in his 212th international innings, during which he averaged 42.53 while scoring 17 centuries and 67 half-centuries.

England’s Joe Root is second with 8,305 runs, while Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan is third with 7,779 runs. Sri Lanka’s Kaushal Mendis and Patham Nissanka are fourth and fifth respectively, while India’s Virat Kohli is sixth.

Despite Babar Azam’s brilliant innings, Bangladesh maintained control of the match and bowled out Pakistan for 232 runs.
