ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) reports that 97 percent of the country’s population is officially registered.

NADRA has submitted an annual report to the Ministry of Interior, and spokesperson Shabahat Ali released performance data in a video statement. According to the spokesperson, the number of registered citizens in Pakistan is 227 million, with 48 percent of the registered individuals being women and 52 percent being men.

Shabahat Ali mentioned that the births of 31.9 million children have been registered at the union councils; however, these children have not yet been registered with NADRA.

The video statement revealed that NADRA’s biometric database contains facial identities for 170 million citizens, along with 1.68 billion fingerprints and eye data for 7 million people.

Ali also noted an 11 percent increase in overall registrations, an 18 percent increase in children’s registrations, and an 8 percent increase in women’s registrations.

Currently, there are 938 NADRA registration centers operating across the country. During 2025, 75 new registration centers and 138 additional counters were established, and the registration and facilitation services for overseas Pakistanis were expanded.

According to the spokesperson, the PakID application has taken on 15 percent of NADRA’s responsibilities, with its downloads surpassing 12 million.
