PESHAWAR: Senator Aimal Wali Khan, President of the Awami National Party (ANP), has strongly condemned the penalty given to former intelligence officer General Faiz Hameed, stating that the punishment does not reflect the extent of his purported deeds.

In a declaration, Aimal Wali asserted that Hameed had been instrumental in coordinating militant groups, accusing the individual who sipped tea in Kabul while rallying forty thousand militants continues to evade accountability.

He additionally blamed the general for evading examination regarding what he termed efforts that resulted in “another wave of destruction” for Pashtuns. As per Aimal Wali, the individuals who profited from what he refers to as the Faiz–Bajwa–Imran alliance still retain power without facing repercussions.

The ANP leader stated that a whole generation was alienated from its leaders, noting that the public was convinced that all their leaders were corrupt except for one individual who was portrayed as a national hero.

Aimal Wali contended that although the federal government and Punjab experienced the four years of called change, it was the Pashtun community that suffered the most. He asserted that ongoing political manipulation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, by state entities, had driven the province toward instability and deterioration.

He emphasized that true peace and justice would remain out of reach unless “the entire network” behind past political manipulation was held accountable. “Pakistan’s situation will not improve until the conspiracies against Pashtuns are fully exposed,” he added.
