KHYBER (Haroon Shinwari): A vehicle carrying Afghan families returning to Afghanistan met with an accident on the Torkham Road on the Pak-Afghan Highway in the Landi Kotal area of Khyber District on Tuesday, injuring 14 people, including women and children.
According to police and hospital sources, the accident occurred when the vehicle of the family returning home lost control and overturned.
The injured include 3 women and 11 children, who have been immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Landi Kotal for medical assistance.
Hospital sources say that all the injured are being provided with necessary medical facilities, and their condition is currently said to be out of danger.
Police reached the scene and have started an investigation to find out the reasons for the accident.
1882 Afghan nationals were deported from Pakistan to Afghanistan through the Torkham border on Thursday. The heavy rainfall created difficulties for the deportation process, which continued in spite of the weather conditions.
The deported individuals included 1142 who were holders of the Proof of Registration (PoR) cards, 206 with Afghan Citizen Cards and 534 who were illegal immigrants living in Pakistan without proper documentation.
