ISLAMABAD: Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi will not attend the medal ceremony of the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026, which will be held after the thrilling final between arch-rivals Pakistan and India on Saturday at the Korogi Sports Park in Nishin.
The final of the men’s cricket event of the Asian Games 2026 will be played today between Pakistan and India.
According to the Asian Cricket Council, the ACC President will not be able to attend on final day due to pre-scheduled engagements.
In a statement issued by the Asian Cricket Council, it was said that due to prior commitments, Mohsin Naqvi will not be able to travel for the Asian Games. However, he has expressed his best wishes for the medalist teams in the Asian Games.
It should be remembered that after winning the Men’s T20 Asia Cup last year, the Indian team had refused to receive the trophy and medals from Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) besides being the President of the Asian Cricket Council.
Due to the refusal of the Indian team, the closing ceremony was initially delayed, and later the ceremony ended without giving the trophy to the winning team.
A similar incident also occurred last Sunday after the final of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup, when the Indian team refused to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi despite becoming champions by defeating defending champions Sri Lanka in the final.
