ABBOTTABAD: Several shops and a house were badly damaged when a major fire broke out in Ali Plaza, Abbottabad in the early morning of Saturday.
Local correspondent informed Pakhtun Digital that the incident occurred in Ali Plaza in the Mundian area of Abbottabad, and it may have been caused due to a short circuit, as no one was present in the market in the morning time.
The market was full of winter stuff and second-hand garments. The fire inflicted heavy losses of millions of rupees to the owners, as most of the government employees of the cantonment board and district administration were sleeping when the fire was blazing the market.
The rescue 1122 reached the site, but it was too late to control the fire. There was a severe shortage of water to extinguish the fire as most of the vehicles lacked a driver to reach the scene timely manner.
It took almost two hours to control the fire, which also damaged the houses adjacent to the Ali Plaza Mundian area. The area falls within the limits of Mirpur Police Station. It is pertinent to mention that the area where the fire broke out consisted of second-hand winter stuff which had arrived from different countries. The fire inflicted millions of losses on the local shopkeepers as their heavy investment was reduced to ashes due to the late arrival of the government servants.
