ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Wednesday lodged a first information report (FIR) under the Cyber Crime Act against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf lawmaker, Shandanda Gulzar, for spreading alleged inflammatory remarks against state institutions on Social Media.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), a case has been registered against a female assembly member under the Cyber Crime Act.

Case No. 296/2025 has been filed against the accused, Shandana Gulzar Khan, for allegedly spreading anti-state content on the social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter).

The NCCIA statement said that the investigation revealed that the accused shared multiple fake and misleading tweets and videos. This content included hateful and inflammatory statements targeting state institutions. Shandana Gulzar is accused of inciting racial and linguistic hatred through her tweets.

It said Additionally, she spread fake pictures and false information regarding the Prime Minister of Pakistan, including misleading claims about a meeting between the Prime Minister and the Israeli Prime Minister. This spread of fake news has created fear, anxiety, and distrust toward state institutions among the public.

The investigation has established that the accused intentionally promoted an anti-state narrative through the dissemination of false information. She has been charged under Sections 11, 20, and 26-A of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016.

Further investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals involved and any accomplices in the anti-state campaign.
