ISLAMABAD: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is introducing a more flexible payment system to help beneficiaries receive their financial assistance conveniently and protect them from unauthorised deductions.

Under the revised arrangement, beneficiaries can collect their payments through authorised agents working with partner banks, making it easier for people in areas without nearby bank branches to access their funds.

BISP Additional Secretary Dr Ismat Nawaz said payments would continue to be distributed through authorised bank agents, as establishing bank branches in every part of the country was not possible.

She explained that banks would remain accountable to BISP, while agents would be answerable to their respective banks for their services.

The new interoperability arrangement is expected to give beneficiaries greater flexibility by allowing them to access their payments through participating banks, rather than relying on a single banking channel.

The initiative aims to improve access to financial assistance, particularly for women in remote and underserved areas, while strengthening oversight of the payment process and helping prevent unauthorised deductions.
