ISLAMABAD: The past and present of Fazlur Rehman, who does politics over lawlessness, terrorism and embezzlement of development funds in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is itself exposing his lies.

‎The nation is justified in asking Fazlur Rehman, who has been lamenting the lack of government writ and lawlessness in the province for a long time, who laid the real foundation for the destruction of former FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

‎Fazlur Rehman is now showering accusations on the provincial government and the federation, but he forgets that the biggest hand in depriving the backward districts of former FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of basic rights, funds and development is of those very parties that continued to enjoy power for years.

‎The entire axis of Fazlur Rehman’s politics is only chair and share, because as long as he gets ministries of his choice or a political role, the system remains fine, and as soon as the state conducts an operation against terrorists or he has to be out of power, he starts targeting state institutions.

‎The leader who until yesterday was the harshest critic of the disruptive movement and disruptive group and declared them the root of every evil, today, due to political compulsions, is carrying the same narrative.

‎The conscious people of Pakistan have well understood the blackmailing politics of Fazlur Rehman and those who have been doing politics in the name of religion but practically have a soft corner for elements standing against national security will not get any more chance to hide.

‎The decision of the state and the people is clear that terrorists and their ideological and political facilitators will not be given any more concession.

‎The double standard of Fazlur Rehman, who calls himself the champion of democracy and well-wisher of the people, has come to the fore, because he lamented a lot about the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the absence of government writ, but as soon as the state and the federation took decisive action against this menace and adopted the path of Governor’s Rule or strict administrative measures, Fazlur Rehman’s language changed.

‎In fact, his whole pain is not the implementation of law and order but not getting his desired share and position in the new setup of power. Fazlur Rehman, who does politics in the name of ending terrorism in the province, when he himself went out of the corridors of power, he became flustered and started opposing every measure of the state which was being taken to cleanse the country and the province from terrorists.

‎Fazlur Rehman’s father Mufti Mahmood was a credible name in the religious and political history of Pakistan who lived a very simple life and ran his politics from a small house in Dera Ismail Khan, but after the death of Mufti Mahmood, when Fazlur Rehman took over the reins of the party, the situation completely changed.

‎According to analysts, Fazlur Rehman does not have any clear and known source of income, big business setup or industrial unit, but despite this, the luxurious farmhouse located in Zone Four of Islamabad, expensive properties in Lahore and Karachi, fleet of Land Cruisers and lavish lifestyle raises many questions.

‎Revelations by NAB at various times about assets beyond income and allotment of government lands at cheap rates have always put a question mark on his piety.

‎Fazlur Rehman has always used his influence as street power through control over the madrassa system and political blackmailing and thousands of students and the networking of madrassas has been used to get his demands accepted in politics and to blackmail governments.

‎In the name of madrassas, the names of the poor and students are used, while the political privileges and funds received in exchange for this power base go to the share of a few specific families.

‎Fazlur Rehman has always reached the corridors of power by riding on the shoulders of others, whether it was the era of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the government of Asif Zardari, or the rule of PML-N, Fazlur Rehman always got his share of power by obtaining the Chairmanship of Kashmir Committee, diesel permits, and ministries.
