RAWALPINDI: Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has made history with a remarkable batting performance in his first T20 International series against Sri Lanka as captain, surpassing Indian opener Abhishek Sharma’s record for the most runs scored in a three-match T20I series, according to the reported figures.
Farhan scored a total of 238 runs in the three-match series against Sri Lanka, surpassing Sharma’s previous mark of 229 runs, which the Indian batter had recorded in a three-match series against Afghanistan in 2026.
Farhan Shines with Three Consecutive Half-Centuries
The 30-year-old Pakistani batter delivered outstanding performances in all three matches, scoring a half-century in each game.
His scores in the series were:
First T20I: 89 runs off 53 balls
Second T20I: 73 runs off 44 balls
Third T20I: 76 runs off 47 balls
Farhan’s consistency at the top of the order proved to be one of the major highlights of the series, as he repeatedly provided Pakistan with strong batting performances.
Despite his impressive individual form, Pakistan suffered an eight-wicket defeat in the third and final match. However, the hosts won the series 2-1.
Named Player of the Tournament
In recognition of his outstanding performances, Farhan was named Player of the Tournament.
His recent form has been equally impressive across T20 cricket. According to the reported statistics, he has scored 632 runs in his last 11 T20 innings, including two centuries and five half-centuries.
The achievement highlights Farhan’s growing importance to Pakistan’s batting lineup and his ability to deliver consistently in the shortest international format.
With his record-breaking series against Sri Lanka, Farhan has strengthened his reputation as one of Pakistan’s most exciting T20 batting talents.
Fakhar Zaman Rewrites the Record Books
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s experienced opener Fakhar Zaman achieved a major milestone in men’s T20 International cricket during the third and final match against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The 36-year-old became the first Pakistani batter to hit 100 sixes in men’s T20 Internationals, marking a significant achievement in his international career.
Fakhar made his achievement by blasting a six off Sri Lankan paceman Binura Fernando over deep mid-wicket. The left-handed batter had only one six to go as he came into the match with a tally of 99 sixes.
The celebration of Fakhar was not long enough as he was out of the game early for just 12 runs against the bowling of Sri Lankan fast bowler Eshan Malinga.
Fakhar’s historic record has further increased his achievements in the shortest form of international cricket.

Eight-Wicket Victory for Sri Lanka
Fakhar’s historic record could not make any difference to help Pakistan defeat the opponent as Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the third T20I.
The excellent batting performance of Kusal Mendis helped Sri Lanka chase the target and won the game.
