PESHAWAR: The newly elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, has said that for him, “Pakistan is at the top of the list and everything else is afterward.”

When he was outside of Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Afridi spoke to the media and expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his congratulatory call regarding Afridi’s election victory.

“The PM Shehbaz Sharif was kind enough to call and congratulate me, I thanked him for that,” CM said.

CM Afridi also stated that he had requested a visit from PM Shehbaz Sharif to PTI Chairman founder, who is currently in jail, but he has not yet received a response.

“I said to the Prime Minister give me the green light to see our leader Imran Khan. We will use every conceivable way to hold that meeting,” he said.

The Chief Minister depicted a firm commitment to non-violent and democratic methods by stating,

“There has always been a constitutional and legal way for us and we will take that again. In case the courts deny us justice, we will resort to peaceful protest, which is our democratic right.”

Moreover, Afridi rejected speculations that he had taken down the picture of the Father of the Nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah or the national flag from his office by labelling such reports as “purely false allegations.”

“Both the Pakistan flag and the picture of the Father of the Nation are in my office. Those who are spreading these lies are the ones who can only see the Quaid’s portrait on money, not in office,” he sarcastically said.

CM Afridi further said that the provincial cabinet would be appointed after a meeting with PTI head Imran Khan, which reflects his loyalty to the party’s top leadership.
