ISLAMABAD: Residents of Islamabad have breathed a sigh of relief as authorities have begun removing containers from major roads and key entry and exit points across the federal capital, following an order issued by Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Captain (Retd) Sohail Chaudhry.

The move aims to restore traffic flow, facilitate public movement and ensure that daily activities continue without disruption. The removal process has started at several important locations across the city.

Containers had been placed at various entry and exit points, major highways and sensitive locations in anticipation of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march and possible protests.

The restrictions had raised concerns among residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, who feared that the political gathering could disrupt traffic, restrict mobility and bring routine life to a standstill.

Following the IGP’s directive, the relevant staff began clearing the roads, bringing renewed optimism among residents who had been facing uncertainty over possible traffic closures.

Business Activities Continue as Usual

Meanwhile, commercial and business activities in markets and shopping centres across the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi are continuing as usual.

Traders and shopkeepers had been concerned that road closures and potential protests could affect customer visits, disrupt the transportation of goods and cause financial losses.
