PESHAWAR: The federal government has appointed Dr. Muhammad Fakhr Alam Irfan as the new Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to an official notification issued on October 11, 2026.
Dr. Irfan is a Grade-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) and was previously serving as Secretary of the Power Division under the Ministry of Energy.
According to the notification, his appointment as Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will take effect immediately and remain in force until further orders.
Dr. Muhammad Fakhr Alam Irfan hails from Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The appointment places him at the helm of the province’s administrative machinery, following the federal government’s decision to assign him the key provincial post.
