PESHAWAR: Central Secretary General of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muhammad Humayun Khan, reacting to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march politics, said that the country could not afford further chaos, political instability or confrontation.

He urged the political leadership to prioritize national interests over personal and party agendas and play a constructive role in promoting political stability, democratic continuity and the resolution of public issues.
Muhammad Humayun Khan said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were facing serious challenges, including a deteriorating law and order situation, economic hardship, unemployment and a lack of basic facilities. He emphasized that the people needed peace, employment opportunities, quality education, better healthcare and economic relief rather than political confrontation, long marches and protest politics.
He said that PTI should shift its focus from long marches and protests towards addressing public grievances and improving its governance. Political activities must not disrupt the daily lives of citizens, businesses or economic activity. At a time when people were already struggling with inflation, financial pressures and other difficulties, further disruption should be avoided.
The PPP Central Secretary General stated that the resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa belonged to its people and must be utilized for public welfare rather than political purposes. He stressed that these resources should be directed towards education, healthcare, employment generation, essential public services and development projects. The provincial government’s foremost responsibility was to protect the lives and property of citizens, improve law and order and address their fundamental needs.
Muhammad Humayun Khan expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in the province, saying that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wanted relief from insecurity and economic hardship. He urged the provincial government to focus on restoring peace, protecting citizens and improving administrative performance instead of prioritizing political activities and rhetoric. He added that sustainable development, investment and the growth of business activities were not possible without peace and stability.
He further noted that traders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were facing business-related challenges, while the protests and demands of government employees also required serious attention. He called on the provincial government to take effective measures to protect businesses, promote economic activity and resolve the legitimate grievances of government employees. He also stressed that improvements in education and healthcare required practical measures rather than mere announcements.
Muhammad Humayun Khan said that political accusations, rhetoric and mudslinging would not resolve the problems faced by the people. Political differences should be addressed through the Constitution, Parliament, democratic principles and meaningful dialogue rather than confrontation. He urged all political parties to place national interests above partisan considerations and contribute to political reconciliation and democratic stability.
He reiterated that the Pakistan Peoples Party had always upheld the principles of democracy, political reconciliation, constitutional supremacy and the protection of public rights. Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa needed responsible political conduct, effective governance and practical measures to resolve public issues rather than further instability and division.
Muhammad Humayun Khan emphasized that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must be provided with peace, development, employment opportunities and essential public services instead of being subjected to continued political slogans and protest politics. He concluded that public welfare must remain at the centre of the province’s resources and government priorities, as service to the people was the defining responsibility of a government.
