PESHAWAR: Mobile phone signals have remained suspended across Peshawar for the past two days amid the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) long march, disrupting daily life, business activities and official affairs.
Sources indicate that mobile services may be restored once the long march moves from Peshawar to Charsadda. The march began on October 4 in Lakki Marwat and reached Peshawar yesterday.
Mobile signals of all cellular network operators reportedly went down shortly after the march entered the provincial capital, leaving residents facing communication difficulties.
The sudden suspension also fuelled speculation about the possible imposition of governor’s rule or an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as reports regarding these possibilities had already been circulating.
However, informed sources said the mobile service suspension was a security measure intended to ensure the safety of the long march.
The sources expressed a strong possibility that mobile services would be restored later today, although no official confirmation of the restoration timeline was available.
