Several Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders and Insaf Student Federation (ISF) office-bearers have reportedly gone into hiding ahead of the party’s long march, with Mardan MPA Abdul Salam Afridi also among those said to be missing from the scene.
According to sources, Afridi, who represents PK-58 Mardan, has reportedly gone into hiding voluntarily.
Several ISF office-bearers and former student leaders have also reportedly been untraceable for the past 48 hours. They include Amir Marwat, president of ISF University Campus Peshawar; Aman Ullah, former chief organiser of ISF at the University of Agriculture Peshawar; Abdul Basit, former general secretary of ISF at Islamia College Peshawar; Junaid Zada, former vice-president of ISF at the University of Agriculture Peshawar; and Shafqat Ullah, an ISF member.
Sources claimed that the PTI leadership was trying to locate the missing individuals but had been unable to establish contact with them.
The sources further alleged that the individuals had lost confidence in the long march, describing it as unlikely to achieve the party’s objectives.
