Facebook, one of the world’s most popular social media platforms, is testing a major redesign that could significantly change how users interact with the service.
Meta is testing a new Facebook interface designed to compete more directly with TikTok and YouTube Shorts. According to a report, the redesigned version gives priority to video content instead of the traditional mix of text and photo posts.
Under the new design, users would see a full-screen video feed when they open Facebook, replacing the traditional News Feed as the primary experience.
Meta has begun testing the video-first version in India to assess how users respond to the new format. The test is currently limited to a selected group of users, who will have the option to switch back to the traditional interface.
The existing Facebook feed will continue to be available as a secondary tab within the navigation.
The video-first approach is similar to the format that helped make TikTok popular, where users are immediately presented with full-screen videos upon opening the app.
It remains unclear when Meta could roll out the redesigned interface more widely. If the trial proves successful, the company is expected to gradually introduce the new design in other countries. However, Meta has not announced a broader rollout timeline so far.
