Electricity prices have been increased by Rs1.11 per unit for consumers across Pakistan under the August fuel price adjustment, according to a notification issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

According to the notification, the increase will remain in effect for one month and will be recovered from consumers through their October electricity bills.

The adjustment will apply to consumers across the country, including Karachi, while lifeline consumers will be exempt from the increase.

Sources said the August fuel price adjustment would place an additional burden of around Rs19 billion on electricity consumers.
