ATTOCK – A police constable deployed for the security of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march in Attock district died after being bitten by a snake, while another police driver died due to cardiac arrest.

According to police sources, the constable identified as Shabbir Ahmed Dar was on duty in Attock as part of the security arrangements for the PTI’s long march when he was bitten by a venomous snake. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital but could not survive. In a separate incident, a police driver deputed on the same duty suffered a heart attack and passed away. Police sources confirmed that so far four police personnel deployed for long march security have lost their lives in different incidents.

The long march, which is moving towards Islamabad, has seen heavy deployment of police from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for security and crowd management.IG Punjab and senior officers have expressed condolences over the deaths and have announced compensation for the families of the deceased officials.
