PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government announces 15% Increase in salaries for Doctors in government hospitals.

Following ongoing protests and strikes by medical professionals in government hospitals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the provincial government has announced a 15% increase in salaries and stipends exclusively for doctors who continued to perform their duties instead of joining the strike.

The 15% financial increase applies only to those medical officers, house officers, and trainee medical officers (TMOs) who remained on duty during the protest period. The Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) has sought detailed lists of medical officers and trainees who worked through the strike from all Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs) within 2 days.

Attendance and duty records must be officially verified by the chairperson of the respective department. According to the Health Department, only trainees who performed duties are eligible for the 15% extra stipend. Meanwhile, the 15% increase or additional demands for those who participated in the strike remain deferred until the broader dispute is officially resolved.

While the government has extended this 15% relief to active workers, young doctors and associations across the province have simultaneously pushed for broader acceptance of their demands, seeking a more substantial 30% pay raise to match inflation and packages in other provinces.
